Sweet, Salty, Spicy Keto Burgers!
Okay, stop. Let me just say this before you decide to hate this recipe: PEANUT BUTTER ON BURGERS IS ACTUALLY DELICIOUS. I’M SO SERIOUS!
When I first started working in a kitchen, the restaurant I worked at had a special burger with peanut butter, jelly, arugula and crispy pork belly on it. If you, like me at the time, have never had a PB&J burger that probably sounds weird and possibly disgusting.
Trust me, I felt the same exact way.
The executive chef was offering to make me food one night and suggested I try that burger. I looked at him with a mixture of shock, horror and repulsion. He laughed and said, “I had the same reaction my first time someone mentioned it to me. It’s really good, though, honestly.” Another chef came over and backed him up, eagerly agreeing.
I couldn’t tell if they were messing with me or not, we definitely busted each others chops a lot and they were almost as skilled as me at the art of sarcasm and facetious deception for the sake of the prank. A match made in hell’s kitchen, surely.
I declined and asked for something else. But over time they continued to offer it to me and continued to pile on anecdotes of how good it really was. I figured that if it was on the menu it couldn’t be all bad, and after an enormous amount of effort they finally got me to try it one night.
I immediately regretted my resistance to peer pressure. It was so good I was almost angry I hadn’t tried it sooner! To be fair, I can see how it isn’t for everyone. To be equally fair, however, I can clearly see how someone would think it isn’t for them but in reality they would love if they tried it. There’s a strong chance you fall into the latter category, so I highly recommend you give it a try!
Long story short: is good.
Anyway, let’s get into it!
